excerpt from interview with, Adolfo Quinones for COOTW E MAGAZINE

Adolfo Quinones, grew up in the housing project of Chicago’s, Cabrini Greene. Today, he is a veteran of the performing arts, recognized and respected worldwide as “Locking” pioneer, Shabba-Doo!

It would not be an exaggeration to describe his contributions to the “Hip Hop” culture as revolutionary or iconic.

In 1984, the Chicago native, (turned Californian) loaned his acting and dance talent to the Indie/MGM films “Breakin’ ” and “Breakin’ 2-Electric Boogaloo”.

He has performed, and made countless appearances on television and stage, and is a world-renowned choreographer, who greatly contributed to performances by Three 6 Mafia, Madonna, and Lionel Richie, just to name a few!

Mr. Quinones’ timeless style and tireless energy still effect, mold and connect with those driven by the spirit of Dance. However, beneath the phenomenal talent lies a certain depth that few media sources have explored-

Adolfo Quinones is philosophical, wise, and loves God...

He is a gentleman whom I found to be generous, and considerate of my reading audience. So please join me with an inside look at Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quinones.

COOTW- How old were you, when you discovered you could dance?

AQ- I was about three or four years old...

COOTW- You were so young.

AQ- I danced in a very mature way, much like Michael Jackson when he was a kid-I danced with astounding maturity.

COOTW- So, it’s a gift?

AQ-.Yeah, I think so.

I note how he says this with acceptance and not arrogance.

COOTW-If your dance were a language, what would it say?

He pauses, repeating the question...
