Let's Love Again! Movies that make you remember... Movies & Series

Because it is almost Valentine's Day I am sharing a collection of films and popular shows that are so potently passionate they make us believe in something larger than ourselves-and that something is LOVE.

First up is "IDLEWILD"

The potent love story woven through this hardcore, prohibition drama, set in 1935 Georgia is one for the books! ...As the old saying goes, "Either bring it, or stay at home!" -Well Paula Patton as singing sensation, Angel Davenport, brings it "all"-as does club owner, Percival Jenkins (played by Andre Benjamin). The two are seamless in their powerful passion for entertaining, changing the game, and loving one another

Second, is my all time favorite, The Thomas Crown Affair-

Bad boy, billionaire, Thomas Crown (played by Pierce Brosnan) is bored with the mundane activity of mergers and acquisitions, so employs a "thrill seeking" heist to relieve himself. Little does he know, there is a female counterpart (Rene Russo) on the other end of his scheme, even more tenacious than he.

Third, "Hitch"

This film is quick-witted and funny in all the right places...

Will Smith as Alex "Hitch" Hitchens is an undercover matchmaker with an A-list clientele, and a set of no-nonsense rules that always "get the girl". However, this time, he is the one who, "gets got"!

Fourth, "Something New."

Right here, is where expectations clash with "what the heart wants..."

Kenya McQueen, played by Sanaa Lathan works for a successful accounting firm, where she is being considered for partner. She comes from a well-to-do family, equipped with a mother who has rather rigid expectations for her children. -Being well aware of her predisposed destiny she dares to cross the lines with Brian Kelly, played by Simon Baker. This man, a small business owner and free spirit, seem to fall short of her projections. But, then nothing is ever as it seems....

Fifth "The Notebook"

Nostalgic-Brave-Original! This is a "go beyond your boundaries because you know, that you know, he is the one." kind of film. In actuality, it is so much more than that....

James Garner (Duke), Gena Rowlands (Mature, Allie), Ryan Gosling (Noah), and Rachel McAdams Young, Allie) are mosaics to a beautiful love story of overcoming.

Sixth, "How Stella Got Her Groove Back"

This movie was so powerful that whenever you refer to a person or relationship as a "Stella Got Her Groove Back" it is understood that an older woman is romantically involved with a younger man!

"Taboo," as it may seem this film exposes and over-rides the unspoken rules of the dating game. But the most interesting part is watching Stella's (Angela Bassett) process in the acceptance of her love for Winston.

Seventh, "Shallow Hal"

"Shallow Hal" comes packaged as a no-holds-barred comedy, and then skillfully unfolds into a philosophical take on "Inner vs. Outer, Beauty".

Jack Black playing the role of Hal, is obnoxiously shallow in his take on life and women, in particular. But something mystical occurs, causing him to reassess his definition of what beauty truly is.

Eighth, "Something's Gotta Give"

For the over-forty crowd looking to believe that passion is still, very much an option, this film offers a line to step over, and into love! Jack Nicholson, and my fave, Diane Keaton are funny, intense and masterful communicators of the various vibes that exist between them.

I love this timeless film that always makes me want to celebrate my birthday in Paris. BonApPetit...

Tenth, "POWER -1"

The HBO blockbuster, "Power' is four seasons strong, boasting the talented and sexy, Omari Hardwick as leading man. Now, one may not look to this hardcore, and sometimes ruthless, crime drama as a romantic tale... But, I say, "look again!"

Tasha St. Patrick (played by Naturi Naughton) is the wife of James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) a man who leads two, very separate lives. But you can be sure that while he exists in her world he is giving her (in the words of Aretha Franklin) something she can feel! James is a powerful, unflinching, skilled lover matched by the reciprocations of his "one-step-ahead," wife.

Tenth,"POWER-2"

Felt so nice I had to do it twice.

Here we see James "Ghost" St. Patrick with Angela Valdes, played by Lela Loren. She is the woman who occupies the other side of his duplicitous lifestyle validating his necessity for change.

...Really makes you ponder, if loving two women at the same time is possible... What they have is explosive, in and out of the bedroom.
